Procedures Performed in our Office:

  • Simple excisions: Moles, lesions and subcutaneous lumps can be removed in the office using local anesthetic.  Any suspicious findings will be sent to pathology for further testing.
  • Breast core biopsies: A biopsy that uses a special needle (or probe) to take a small sample of breast tissue from an area of concern so that it may be sent to a laboratory for additional testing.  Breast masses may fall into one of two categories:
    • Palpable mass: a biopsy of a breast mass that is easily felt by hand can be done in the office, using local anesthetic to numb the area that is being biopsied.
    • Masses identified only by X-ray or ultrasound: Breast masses identified only by X-ray or ultrasound will be arranged to be performed in the Breast Health Center, using guidance from ultrasound or mammogram images and local anesthetic to numb the area that is being biopsied.
